Today we decide to explore the city. With a bit of a quick march from the bus station we manage to join a free tour just in time. It's already started but the guide is friendly and welcomes us. Immediately we find out the Ljubljana uses it statues and monuments to celebrate it's poets and artists rather than kings and warriors, no wonder it feels like such a welcoming place. As Slovenia is such a new country a lot of the tour was also about it's Soviet history and struggle for independence. We're glad they won it because it is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly.

After the tour we do a bit more exploring of our own, we walk thou the indoor market which is just starting to close but there's a wine stall still open. James sees a sign that advertises 'Sladki Most' so we decide to try it and order a glass each. It looks like cloudy tea and as an after thought we decide maybe we should ask what it is before drinking it! The stall owner has a giggle at us and explains that it is partly unfermented wine from being kept in darkness (we think!). What ever it was it tasted good and was well worth a try. Since we're here we also buy a bottle of local wine to have back at the flat, and we're told that doctors even recommend it as a bit of a 'cure-all'. We head back and settle in for the night with our new liquid friend for company.
