Time to say hello to Ian (Christine's friend) in Bergen, Norway. The flight is great, although the landing was a bit nervy since the plane seemed to be touching down before we'd seen any sign of a runway!
We'd arrived early enough, and refreshed enough, to do some exploring so after dropping our bags off at Ian's he takes us back to the centre and up the funicular to Mount Floyen for the beautiful views of Bergen, it's just a shame the weather isn't too great today. We walk back down using the Troll Trail, passing all of the smiling wooden trolls as well as the mini parks (James couldn't help himself and jumped into the spiders web).

We'll be honest, this scared us a bit.

Back in Bergen we go to Bryggen which is an area designed to look like Bergen in the olden days, full of wooden buildings and wonky passages. There's a good view out across the sea from there too. Ian treats us to our first beer in Norway before going back to his flat for Chilli and films.

Festive in Bryggen |

A nice walk around the harbour. |
|
Beautiful Bergen. |
The next day after a 'Manchester' sausage butty (strange to have a tasty reminder of home in Norway) we climb Damsgårdsfjellet which is one of the seven mountains surrounding Bergen. It's a great walk and reminds us of a scene out of The Lord of the Rings. Although I don't think the Hobbits were accurately out of breath after what we went through. We spend the day hiking before freshening up and going for pizza in the centre. Ian's friends Jess and Harold meet us and we have a lovely evening chatting about our next adventure...our mission to see the Northern lights!

Let's get ready to ramble. |
|
It's a bit windy at the top...blame the chilli! |

Gorgeous views. |
